Wakatobi Resort is known as a world-class snorkelling destination. 

The beachfront property faces one of the most bio-diverse coral reef environments on earth, being in the middle of the famous “Coral Triangle”.  The surrounding waters deliver an unmatched wealth of marine life, and an equally compelling range of underwater landscapes.

Guided snorkels are complimented by free access to our house reef. Staff are always on hand to advise and ensure you feel safe and secure.

To enjoy our House Reef, guests only need to wade in from the beach, or walk to the end of the Resort jetty to discover an intriguing range of marine life. Between the beach and drop off is a vast ecosystem of tutle grass shallows and isolated coral heads that create a rich environment for odd and beautiful creatures.  Right around the jetty, snorkellers will find numerous varieties of colourful anemones and their attendant clownfish. A swim around the coral heads and bottom will reveal frogfish, stonefish, moray eels, blue spotted stingrays, crocodilefish, cuttlefish, ghost pipefish, jawfish, shrimp and goby pairs.  

Boats, built for comfort, staffed for service

Wakatobi’s fleet of spacious day boats make three daily trips to more than 40 sites within the private marine reserve. Each of these 24-metre

custom-built launches is fitted with generous bench seating, bathrooms and storage areas under a full length roof.  To ensure each guest is provided an appropriate level of attention, both in and out of the water, the resort typically maintains a ratio of one snorkel guide to four to six snorkellers, as well as full briefings of what you may encounter on each site.

Spa treatments

Pick from a diverse menu of 60-90 minute treatments (aromatherapy, shiatsu, lomi lomi) or 150-170 minute indulgence / stress recovery packages. All oils are natural virgin coconut and virgin olive oil based, with the choice of your favorite essence to enhance your treatment. Simply call reception to schedule an appointment and for guidance on making the right choice for you. The team at Wakatobi Spa recognizes that each body is unique. Our therapists aim to tailor-make each treatment to match your individual preferences and needs. With a caring heart and a pair of well-trained hands, they will ease physical discomfort and mental stress, leaving you relaxed and rejuvenated.

Land excursions

Wakatobi offers a number of 2-4 hour excursions. Choose from a guided scooter tour of our island (Tomia) to meet the locals and enjoy stunning panoramas. On Wed, Fri or Sun, combine this with a visit to the village market! For the more adventurous, take a trip in an air-conditioned car to the village of Waha and to learn about local boat-building techniques, then visit the Sultan's fort, learn about the Portuguese and Dutch history (including an iron cannon) and view the fruit bats at sunset. Depending on tides, you can tour the stilt houses of Lintea. Included in all your trips to Wakatobi is the option to visit Lamangga village on your last afternoon and maybe pick up some local sarongs woven locally.  

Watersports

Want to do diving, kite-surfing or standup paddleboarding (SUP)? Our staff are PADI trained for diving, if you wish to do your open water course. You can even book a kite-surfing instructor, if you wish. Every aspect of your stay at Wakatobi can be tailored to your needs.
